Mike Patton Will Return To Australia To Play Adelaide Festival 2014 With John Zorn

Eclectic, schizophrenic, and un-categorisable rock savant Mike Patton will be returning to Australia in 2014 to join pal and fellow virtuoso of the bizarre, John Zorn while the acclaimed experimental saxophonist makes the rounds for Adelaide Festival 2014 during his very first trip Down Under.

The 60-year-old avant-jazz legend announced that joining him for six show run at Adelaide Festival will be friends and collaborators Marc Ribot, John Medeski, Milford Graves, Bill Laswell, Joey Baron, and of course Mr. Patton making up the international roster, while locals The Elision Ensemble and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will be flying the local colours, contributing to what is slated to include four three-hour long sets.

While it will be Zorn’s first visit to our shores, Patton has been a frequent visitor over the years, last here in February to play Soundwave Festival with his Tomahawk project. The appearance came only months after he appeared at Harvest Festival with his Italian orchestral project, Mondo Cane.

The news of Patton’s return to Australia comes after speculation that he would be taking a break from our fair land, with Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah tweeting “I think Mike may be ready to have a break from Australia for a while!”

Adelaide Festival 2014 will run from Friday, 28th February till Sunday, 16th March, 2014, with Zorn’s run taking place at the Festival Theatre from Tuesday, 11th March till Friday, 14th March.
