A$AP Rocky Charged With Assault After Allegedly Smacking Fan In The Face

In what’s quickly becoming a pattern of behaviour, Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky has been levelled with assault charges after allegedly smacking a fan in the face during a performance in Philadelphia for the Made In America festival.

The incident occurred over the weekend, while Rocky was performing at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway as part of the festival’s Saturday bill. During his performance, Rocky went into the crowd and it’s alleged that when fans started tearing at the rapper’s shirt, he turned around and gave a female fan an open-handed slap to the face.

According to TMZ, the woman then filed a criminal complaint with the District Attorney’s Office, claiming she suffered whiplash as a result of the incident. The DA then issued the charge of misdemeanour simple assault.

The slap mirrors an incident that occurred back in July during a performance in Sydney, in which Rocky is similarly alleged to have slapped a female fan in the face after going into the crowd. In this case, the fan reportedly tapped the rapper on the head and gestured for a kiss before receiving the literal slap in the face, with the incident captured on camera (see below).
