Arcade Fire ‘Reflektor’ Single, 12″ EP And Video To Be Released Monday

In what’s been surely the most obvious teaser campaign ever, it’s now confirmed that Arcade Fire‘s big surprise scheduled for 9pm on 9th September is in fact the debut of a new single, called Reflektor, and it will also be released as a video from renowned director Anton Corbijn and a 12″ EP at the same time.

Corbijn, who was the dude behind Nirvana‘s iconic Heart-Shaped Box video as well as feature films like the Joy Division biopic Control, spilled the beans to The Daily Beast:

“I’m working on a really great song at the moment: Arcade Fire’s new single. The song is called ‘Reflektor’ and you’ll be able to see it Monday evening. I can’t say much more than that, because it’s all a surprise. You’ll have to watch the TV Monday evening.”

The fan-run @ArcadeFiretube Twitter account, which is normally bang on the money, has also reported that Monday night’s the night, tweeting “Reflektor 12″ EP released on Sep 9th, at 9pm in those record shops” and continually updating a list of indie record stores that will be stocking the EP.

Arcade Fire yesterday posted a 40-second teaser video for the single (below), complete with footage of instruments being played, music being recorded and some crashing waves for good measure.

The fourth LP from the Canadian indie megastars is set for release on 29th October, ahead of their 2014 Big Day Out headlining show next January.

Australians will be able to hear Reflektor at 9pm on 9/9 precisely, with triple j’s Richard Kingsmill recently promising an airing of the single next Monday.
