Volcano Choir To Perform Exclusively At Harvest 2013

UPDATE: Harvest Festival 2013 has been officially cancelled. More details here.

Fans of Volcano Choir and Justin Vernon were sent into a frenzy this week when it was revealed that VC would be featured on the second lineup announcement for Harvest Festival 2013, but any hope of sideshow announcements have been brutally crushed, with a press release from Handsome Tours confirming the festival will be the one and only Volcano Choir Australian performance.

Sideshows aren’t normally a big feature for Harvest Festival, with only some bands playing their own headliners in non-Harvest cities, and it seems Volcano Choir is increasing demand by restricting supply.

As per the announcement, their performance at the festival will be “one of only a handful of performances announced so far worldwide” so we must at least be grateful that they’ve included out little part of the world in these plans.

Part Bon Iver, part Collections of Colonies of Bees, Volcano Choir started making waves back in 2009 with their debut full-length album Unmap. The hype was confirmed with the release of their 2013 follow up Repave. The band’s success has come at the price of Vernon’s Bon Iver project, which has since been put to the backburner.

The festival’s first lineup announcement confirmed that the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Massive Attack and the recently reformed Neutral Milk Hotel would be gracing Harvest stages this November. The second lineup announcement is set to be revealed Thursday, 12th September, providing they bands don’t all jump the gun.
