Bluesfest 2014 Lineup New Act Leaked, First Act For 2015 Confirmed

Festival promoters seem to be the only ones who can’t be trusted with their own lineup. Promoter Peter Nobel has let slip a previously unannounced artist set to perform at Bluesfest 2014, while another artist has already been confirmed for Bluesfest 2015.

UPDATE: Byron Bay Bluesfest 2014 third lineup announcement has arrived – full details here!

In an interview with TheMusic.com.au conducted at BIGSOUND 2014, Nobel revealed one particular artist they’ve been hunting for some time has now been booked, though we weren’t meant to know about it just yet:

“I couldn’t get Dr John out in the last year or so, on a big record that he had all of a sudden. I’ll have him out next year. Oops, I haven’t announced that one yet…”

As it turns out, the New Orleans icon will be making his way Down Under following on from the release of his latest effort, 2012’s Locked Down.

This news was followed by an announcement made on the festival’s message board, confirming man of the moment Billy Bragg will be returning to Australia, not just for his run of headlining shows in 2014, but also to perform at Bluesfest 2015. It appears the deal was done over some well earned bevvies in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley this week.

A host of names including Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes and more have already been announced for Bluesfest 2014, along with the days on which they’ll be playing. Single day passes are on sale now.
