Listen To Eddie Vedder & Neil Finn’s ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me’ Cover

Eddie Vedder and Neil Finn have revealed their eagerly awaited contribution to the soon-to-be-released Crucible: The Songs of Hunters & Collectors tribute album, unveiling an unplugged rendition of the 1984 smash hit Throw Your Arms Around Me.

The Pearl Jam front man and Crowded House vocalist have both been known to revert to the Hunters & Collectors tune during live sessions over their respective careers. In fact, Vedder learned Throw Your Arms Around Me through Crowded House’s own cover.

Being some of the only non-Australian musicians to feature on Crucible – not to mention some of the biggest stars involved – Vedder and Finn’s contribution has stirred up a lot of interest in the project. The pair have buddied up on numerous occasions in the past, most notably on Finn’s 7 Worlds Collide live series and subsequent albums.

Since Crucible was announced last month, we’ve seen a few Hunnas covers make their way online, including the genuinely danceable flip of Talking To A Stranger by The Avalanches – aptly titled Stalking To A Stranger – and a more straightforward cover of the same track by Birds Of Tokyo.

Both Birds of Tokyo and Hunters & Collectors themselves will be performing at this year’s AFL Grand Final. Crucible, which also features collaborations by Matt Corby & Missy Higgins and Paul Kelly & Emma Donovan, is set for release next Friday, 27th September.
