Eminem Launches Shady Records Offshoot ‘Shady Films’

With yesterday’s confirmation of a long-rumoured Australian tour, Aussie Eminem fans have even more reason to celebrate with the announcement that the rapper is launching his own film production company, titled, of course, Shady Films.

Co-founded by Eminem and his manager Paul Rosenberg of Paul Rosenberg (Skit) fame, the rapper’s label Shady Records made the announcement via their official website today. The project is a joint venture with channel LOUD and their parent company, Electus. Up to now, LOUD has been home to the Em-produced series, Burn Rubber.

According to the official statement, which you can check out below, the arrangement is “an overall deal for content development and production with Ben Silverman’s LOUD channel in partnership parent company Electus.” This will mean that “Shady Films will continue to produce the hit web series Burn Rubber as well as Elliott Wilson’s CRWN interview series, along with new programs that are already in development with Slaughterhouse and others.”

No word yet on whether this will mean a sequel to Eminem’s much-loved 2002 hip-hop drama 8 Mile, for which Em not only played the lead character but produced the Oscar-winning soundtrack. In the meantime, fans can check out the first episode of Burn Rubber below, as well as Em’s latest starring role in the video for his single Berzerk, off his upcoming Marshall Mathers LP 2, slated for a November release.
