CHVRCHES Hit Out At Lewd Facebook Messages From ‘Fans’

Scottish synth-pop trio CHVRCHES have responded to some rather suggestive Facebook messages they’ve been receiving, asking their ‘fans’ to quit sending them messages such as “I’d f*** the accent right out of her”.

Posting on their Facebook page, the band provided evidence of a particular incident in which a ‘fan’ asked to take frontwoman Lauren Mayberry out to dinner, not long after positing that they would “make superior love together”.

This has led to a multitude of responses from the group’s more respectful fans, the majority of them calling out this sort of correspondence as misogynistic and creepy. In a statement accompanying the photo, the band even noted that this particular exchange is one of the more “polite” ones. You can check the image and statement out below.

The trio were in town recently for a number of sold-out headlining shows, and they even dropped by Music Feeds Studio for a chat.

CHVRCHES, who released their debut studio album The Bones of What You Believe just over a week ago, have been confirmed to return to Australia for the 2014 Laneway Festival.

CHVRCHES’ statement:

“Dear guys,

Please stop sending us emails like this.

This is one of the more polite ones. Other recent classics include “I’m going to give her anal” and “I’d fuck the accent right out of her and she’d love it”. (No you wouldn’t; no, she really wouldn’t.)

Seriously. Stop.

K, tks, bye.
