Mayhem Announce Australian Tour Dates, January 2014

2014 will mark 30 years in existence for Mayhem and in an effort to remind the world just who rightfully resides atop the throne of darkness, the Norwegian black metal trailblazers have announced a run of headlining dates that will see one of the world’s most debauched outfits performing in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

In a time when their peers were busy burning down churches, summoning the devil and murdering one another, Mayhem kept their eyes on the game. Instrumental to the creation of the black metal movement, Mayhem were able to harness the chaos surrounding them, rather than be consumed by it.

In the early days, members of the outfit included seminal figures in the genre such as founding member Euronymous, who was infamously murdered by Burzum frontman Varg Vikernes.

Despite losing even more members, including the iconic Dead who committed suicide in 1991, Mayhem continued to release music and remain a constant presence in the movement. Most recently the band released 2007’s Ordo Ad Chao.

It goes without saying that Mayhem have developed a rep of one of the most controversial bands currently doing the rounds. You won’t want to miss this. Tickets go on sale Thursday, 10th October via http://www.soundworkstouring.com
