Tyler, The Creator + Flying Lotus Co-Headline Gig Shut Down By LA Police

Odd Future leader Tyler, The Creator had something of a run-in with the law, after the controversial rapper’s co-headline concert with Californian producer Flying Lotus was shut down by Los Angeles riot police before the OFWGKTA mastermind even got on stage.

Tyler and Flying Lotus, who was appearing under his hip-hop moniker Captain Murphy, were set to perform at Low End Theory. Normally, performers at the LA venue are kept secret, but Tyler’s appearance leaked online and madness ensued when hundreds turns up to the club on gig night.

According to FACT Magazine, Low End Theory boss Daddy Kev said that people had begun queuing for the double-bill as early as 11am. The police were called when “four or five” men attempted to rush the door of the 140-capacity venue.

“Our security closed up shop so we could get the situation sorted,” said Kev. “I walked outside to see what’s going on and people are calm, but at this point the line has dissolved — there are too many looky-loos, and people are spilling into the street.”

“A squad car rolled by and gave us a little ‘bloop bloop,’ and then there are two cars, and then 10, plus helicopters and the rest. They were doing their job,” he added. Tyler later posted a picture to his Instagram account of his attempt to communicate with the frenzied collective outside the club.

Meanwhile Flying Lotus tweeted an apology to fans, saying “Sorry guys. No show tonight. Got too crazy down there I guess. Damn that sucks.”

UPDATE: Footage has now emerged of the incident, including a video of Tyler addressing the crowd through a police loudhailer and referring to the cops as “assholes”. You can check it out below.
