Ne Obliviscaris Announce ‘Portal of I’ Release Date And Australian Tour

Melbourne’s Ne Obliviscaris have at last announced the release of their debut album Portal Of I and an Australian tour to accompany it.

It’s been 9 years since the band formed, and after undergoing a number of lineup changes, a lengthy immigration battle to get guitarist Benjamin Baret back in the country and numerous other frustrations, the record will be released in Australia on May 7th, through Welkin Records (overseas release details are yet to be announced).

The band are well known to Australian metal and prog fans since the release of their 3-song demo in 2007 showcased their interesting blend of classical violin, extreme metal and prog rock. After co-headlining successive Progfest dates in 2008, 2009 and 2010, the band has largely remained dormant on the live circuit, so these shows are a respite for long-time fans.

The album ‘Portal Of I’ was mixed and mastered by Jen Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Ihsahn), and if the lead single is anything to go by, it should be a fan favourite and one of the strongest Australian prog metal releases this year.
