David Bowie Voted History’s Best Dressed Briton

David Bowie has been awarded the title of Best Dressed Briton, according to voters on the BBC History Magazine website, with the Thin White Duke beating out a host of fashionable figures throughout history including Queen Elizabeth I and Henry IIIFashion designer Wayne Hemingway told NME he voted for Bowie. “Here was a creative genius who understood art and design, looked cool, inspired us and upset the establishment. All these attributes lead to things that drive humankind forward change.” 4,067 votes were recorded in total.

Bowie is having quite the year – his surprise album The Next Day is set to be released as a three disc collectors edition later this month, featuring a James Murphy remix of Love Is Lost. The album is also the odds-on favourite to win the Mercury Prize, set to be announced on 30th October.
