The Pains of Being Pure at Heart New EP ‘Higher Than The Stars’

Within a year of releasing their stunning self titled debut album, Brooklyn’s The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are back with a new EP Higher Than The Stars, set for release in Australia on October 16 through the Lost and Lonesome Recording Co.

Recorded by indie legend Archie Moore (Black Tambourine, Velocity Girl), Higher Than the Stars consists of five nuggets of 24-carat pop, dripping with energy and heart. Title track ‘Higher Than the Stars’ lives up to its name: a beautiful, dreamy song about youth and love, while ‘103’ is a fizzing slice of summertime noise-pop. ‘Falling Over’ recalls luminaries Orange Juice and Aztec Camera in a brooding synth-led tune, whereas ‘Twins’ is a fuzz drenched, mid tempo rocker with sing-along chorus. Rounding out the EP is an inspired Baleraic dub-disco remix of ‘Higher Than the Stars’ by UK producers Saint Etienne.

Since forming in early 2007, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have become one of the most talked about indie bands of the past few years. Their self titled debut – an album full of genius, noisy pop with boy-girl vocals, blissful melodies and fuzz guitar – garnered critical acclaim from international media including Stereogum, NME, Drowned in Sound, Pitchfork, BBC Radio and Mojo.

Following a recent European tour with sold out shows across England, France, Holland, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium, and performances at SXSW, Primavera, Roskilde and The Isle of Wright festivals, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are set to capture hearts once again with their latest offering – Higher Than the Stars.

Thrilling and effortlessly cool, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart might just be the most exciting indie-pop band on the planet right now.
