Bluesfest Announce New Sideshows Plus KC & The Sunshine Band Tour

Bluesfest organisers have today unveiled a new string of sideshows to take place around the festival in the coming year. Teaming many of the bands up for these shows, Bluesfest has successfully created some of the most exciting gigs of the season, set to travel through Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.

On top of that, we’ve been informed that while KC & The Sunshine Band haven’t been confirmed for the festival, they will be in town and performing headlining shows as well, which strongly suggests they could make the cut for the next lineup announcement.

UPDATE: Byron Bay Bluesfest 2014 third lineup announcement has arrived – full details here!

First cab of the rank is Aaron Neville who will be sideshowing with Dr John & The Nite Trippers. Hitting up Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, the double-bill is sure to hit all the right notes with fans of both outfits.

Paying homage to the vibrant world of New Orleans Blues, this particular sideshow will give fans the opportunity to dip their toes in each end of the genre. Both Neville and Dr John are multiple-Grammy winners suggesting levels of musicianship few of their peers can sustain.

Steve Earle & The Dukes have been partnered with the delightful Kasey Chambers. Their show will see the two sweep through Brisbane, Cairns, Sydney and Melbourne. One of the more encompassing sideshows, this particular tour will be a rare opportunity to witness one of America’s greatest living storytellers performing with Australia’s First Lady of country music.

With Earle and Co. the creators of several seminal hits from The Galway Girl, Hard-Core Troubadour, and Jerusalem, and with Casey delivering her own share of anthems, each indelibly ingrained into the Aussie pop consciousness, these performances are sure to be riddled with crowd favourites.

Disco legends KC And The Sunshine Band bear a following unmatched by any of their contemporaries. Further setting them apart, the band are still gleefully touring and sound as great as ever. A crazy 100 million units shifted to all corners of the globe can’t be wrong.

Few bands remain as popular today as they were 40 years ago, but with such timeless qualities of booty shaking, getting even the most stubborn fans out of their seats and a shopping list of high-charting classics, KC And The Sunshine Band go down as well today as they did in 1973, if not better.

At just 26-years-old, Allen Stone is shaping up to be one of the premier acts of the next generation of soul. And considering he sold out his last run of Australian tour dates, people have started to realise. Starting off in similar fashion to many of his peers, Allen discovered his voice in church, surrounding himself with gospel before discovering soul in his teens.

Allen quickly immersed himself in the world of soul and R&B. Now two albums into the game, Allen plans on releasing a third in the near future, so fans can expect to hear some of his new offerings at the upcoming shows. Allen will be keeping things brief, hitting Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Seetting an industry standard for quality roots music, Jimmie Vaughan is hailed as one of the few remaining connections between contemporary roots music and the genre’s humble origins. Joined by Roots rock’n’roll powerhouse Nikki Hill, these sideshows are sure to sell out fast.

Older bro to the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan, greatness runs in the blood of Jimmie who has kept a high profile amongst his peers since his 1994 debut. The situation is not too different for Hills who has received praise for channeling her influences, be they LaVern Baker, Etta James and Ruth Brown, into a focused beam of totally unique roots rock & roll.

Vaughan and Hill will be stopping by the below cities.
