M.I.A. Previews ‘Y.A.L.A.’, The Weeknd To Appear On ‘Matangi’

Hanging for new M.I.A? The controversial British rapper has dropped a hectic sample of another cut from Matangi, putting a 1.30 sample of the track Y.A.L.A. online ahead of the record’s November release date, as well as revealing that The Weeknd makes an appearance on the album.

Y.A.L.A. stands for “You Always Live Again”, sneezing in the face of Drake‘s now-viral sentiment of You Only Live Once. The Paper Planes hitmaker revealed the track along with the tweet “If you only live once why we keep doing the same shit?” and the synthy, pounding track is anything but the same shit from the 38-year-old. It opens with her call of “bombs go off when I enter the building” and builds from there, leaving us hanging to hear the full track.

M.I.A. also dropped the news that The Weeknd will be appearing on Matangi, with the Canadian recording artist collaborating on not one but two tracks, Exodus and Sexodus.

The album is due out 5th November internationally, although it’s been through more than a few delays from label Interscope already, with M.I.A. herself threatening to leak it online, so we’ll believe it when we hear it.
