Protest The Hero’s New Album ‘Volition’ Streaming In Full

Combining elements of power metal, punk rock and New Wave British Heavy Metal with a contemporary edge, Canadian prog-metal five-piece Protest The Hero have now unleashed their fourth album, Volition, and are giving Music Feeds readers the chance to hear it in full.

The follow-up to their critically-lauded, introspective third album, 2011’s Scurrilous, the band have crafted a polished and dynamic fourth record, filled with the near-operatic vocals, punk melodies, lightning bolt arpeggios and precise rhythm playing that fans have come to expect from the band.

Volition also features Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler, following the departure of founding member Moe Carlson earlier this year. His contribution, said frontman Rody Walker, makes the new album “one of our more heavy sounding records, or more metal sounding records.”

Beloved by their fans worldwide, the crowd-funding campaign organised to bring Volition to life hit their target within 30 hours of launching, more than tripling by the time the campaign was over. The band have also nabbed a #1 album in their home of Canada and many other accolades.

Volition is set for release in Australia on 1st November, 2013 via Caroline, but you can stream it now using the playlist below. You can also check out the official lyric video for the album’s lead single, Clarity, directed by Kenneth Wilcox and Todd Hennessy.
