Motörhead Frontman Lemmy’s Health Worsens, Tour Dates Postponed Till 2014

Though their new album may be testament to the levels of furious energy still retained within the Motörhead camp after all these years cracks are still appearing on the surface, with the band posting yet another update in relation to frontman Lemmy Kilmister’s poor run of health.

Fans were shocked with news earlier in the year that Lemmy would be undergoing surgery following a haematoma and would be unable to perform live, though the band promised that this would only be a minor setback and that the shows would go ahead at a later date. These were followed by positive updates on Lemmy’s status. It’s now been revealed that Lemmy will not be fully recovered in time to embark on their run of European tour dates, which have now been shifted to the tentative date of early next year.

Lemmy has addressed concerned fans directly via the band’s Facebook page, explaining that he’s had to cut back from the cranked-up booze-hound lifestyle we’ve come to love him for, but assures fans he is far from going soft.

The band have recently embarked on a new album cycle with the release of their latest record Aftershock. Hopefully, after some well earned down time Lemmy will be fighting fit as he is on the record. You can read his full statement regarding the situation below.

“I have to sadly let you know that Motörhead has had to postpone the forthcoming European tour until early next year, 2014.

We have made the decision because I am not quite ready to hit the road yet, and am working my way back to full fitness and rude health. Don’t worry — I’m not about to start promoting veganism and alcohol-free beverages, but it is fair to say that I personally have been reconfiguring areas of my life to make sure I can come back fitter and stronger than ever.

It disappointed me tremendously to have to say I wasn’t quite ready to hit the road yet, but not nearly as much as it would’ve disappointed me to go out, play some average shows and watch my health give way long before the tour was over! When people come to see a Motörhead tour, they expect a Motörhead show, and that is exactly what you will get as soon as I am fit and ready to rumble.

Your patience and understanding is appreciated…and know that I’m getting stronger and stronger every day, so watch out next spring Europe and we will see you then.

Thank you all,

Lemmy”
