DZ Deathrays Unleash Epic New Single ‘Northern Lights’

As of this moment, debauched party punks DZ Deathrays are officially pushing forward into the new album cycle for their sophomore record with the release of the lead track from their sophomore album Northern Lights.

With atmospheric guitars leading the way for relentless, swelling drums, Northern Lights demonstrates levels of maturity from DZ Deathrays that their debut LP Bloodstreams subtly hinted at. The awakening of this alt-rock kraken is the first example of how the pair meshed with studio dweller Andy Savours who has previously worked with the likes of Sigur Rós and My Bloody Valentine.

Despite being separated by a hemisphere and a 10-hour time gap, Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley are clearly keeping the bromance strong, obviously vibing well via telecommute. The pair’s follow up album is sure to contain several tracks of equal worth, however we’ll have to wait until next year to find out.

We caught up with a slightly rambunctious, slightly tipsy Shane and Simon at the Big Day Out 2014 launch party earlier in the year, where they gave us a few clues as to what to expect on the new record. You can check out that interview below.
