Flying Lotus Bringing ‘Layer 3’ 3D Show To Sydney Opera House

UPDATE: Flying Lotus announces 2014 Australian tour — full details here!

Flying Lotus has today dropped news to delight his Aussie fans, with the experimental music producer and rapper set to bring his incredible audio visual show, Layer 3, to the Sydney Opera House for one night only, as part of the Music at the House series.

The 30 year-old Californian will be turning the iconic venue into a 2001: A Space Odyssey-inspired extravaganza, taking punters on a trip through his four albums. The show promises to be a 3D video game brought to life, and if anyone can achieve such a feat, it’s FlyLo. He’s had a massive 2013 of the back of last year’s Until the Quiet Comes, with collaborations with Earl Sweatshirt and Kendrick Lamar, as well as curating and hosting his own radio station on Grand Theft Auto V.

Ben Marshall, Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Music, said Layer 3 caught his eye when it was first unveiled a year ago and that it’s set to blow some minds in Sydney:

“I genuinely feel Flying Lotus is the future with his thrillingly multidisciplinary interests, his immense attention to detail and concepts all shot through with an infectious sense of fun and exuberance.”

Layer 3 takes place at the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House on Sunday, 9th March, 2014, with general public tickets going on sale from 9:00am AEST on Friday, 15th November. Check out some tantalising footage from the show below.
