Johnny Marr Autobiography Is In The Works

Former guitarist of The Smiths, Modest Mouse, and now solo artist Johnny Marr has revealed that an autobiography detailing the UK guitar legend’s life is in the works. The news comes less than a month after the release of Smiths frontman Morrissey‘s aptly-titled memoir, Autobiography.

“I’ve had so many offers and so many people advising me that my story is worth it, but I understand it’s something that I have to do,” Marr told Brookyln Vegan. “I’ll do it in the next couple of years,” added Marr, before elaborating on the project’s significance.

“I’m into from the stance that I want it to be so thorough that I don’t make a record or tour whilst I was doing it. It is gonna happen, and I’ve already made an agreement with a publisher for it, so I will get it done,” he said.

After giving up on a career as a footballer, Marr joined The Smiths in 1982, ascending to the status of indie legend whilst with the band. The Smiths dissolved in 1987, and Marr’s post-Smiths career was prolific, playing with The The as well as the aforementioned Cribs and Modest Mouse.
