Bluesfest 2014 Sideshows: Buddy Guy, Gregg Allman, Suzanne Vega Brisbane Show & More

Byron Bay Bluesfest 2014‘s announcement of incredible musical events can only be described as relentless. With a lineup featuring John Mayer and Dave Matthews Band and sideshows from Booker T Jones and more, it’s hard to believe Bluesfest organisers have more up their sleeve.

Already announced for her own sideshows, including a spot sharing the stage with folk singer-songwriter Seth Lakeman, the inimitable talent that is Suzanne Vega has announced that she’ll be adding a special show at the Brisbane Powerhouse to her string of sideshow dates.

Bluesfest organisers have also bestowed Aussie music fans with two lineups that no blues fan could deny are absolutely stellar, including one bill featuring Buddy Guy, The James Cotton Blues Band and Charlie Musselwhite and one featuring Gregg Allman, Gov’t Mule and Devon Allman.

Buddy Guy, The James Cotton Blues Band and Charlie Musselwhite Tour Dates

Unlike most of us, Buddy Guy can take credit for forging a new generation of electric blues guitarists, bearing influence on everybody from Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton to John Mayer and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The man is an original and one the world’s most respected bluesmen.

Meanwhile, the man they call ‘Mr. Superharp’, James Cotton and his mighty band will be heading Down Under for the first time and will be joined by the return of harp master in his own right, Charlie Musselwhite, who toured with Ben Harper earlier this year to much acclaim.
