Shazam Predicts Artists To Watch In 2014

Music identification service Shazam have released their annual list of star predictions for 2014, with the media company revealling that it expects Dutch DJ Martin Garrix, actress Lucy Hale, and Australia’s own singer-songwriter Vance Joy to make it big in the New Year.

Also on the company’s list is Los Angeles-based performer Banks, Island Jam signee Rich Homie Quan and vocalist Sam Smith, who contributed his talents to Disclosure‘s Latch. The predictions are selected by industry tastemakers and then narrowed down based on the quantitative data of their Shazams, with the company having a history of being bang on the money – their predictions for 2013 included Haim and French Montana, while in 2012 they correctly suggested it would be all about A$AP Rocky and Lana Del Rey.

They also revealled a list of 2013’s most Shazamed songs, with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis scoring a whopping 34.5 million tags on the service, while Avicii took out second place in both Australia and worldwide, no doubt thanks to his hit Wake Me Up. Robin Thicke‘s Blurred Lines was the most Shazamed track of 2013 globally, while the Aussie honours went to Passenger with Let Her Go.

Other 2014 predictions by the service include Queens native Action Bronson, Drake collaborator Jhené Aiko and New Orleans rapper August Alsina.
