Brisbane’s favourite folk rock musical collective The Gin Club are celebrating 10 years performing together, issuing a special re-release of their self-titled debut album and embarking on a national 10th Anniversary Tour. The tour is now underway and Music Feeds managed to steal some time from Gin Club member Bridget Lewis for the latest instalment of Music Feeds Podcast.
We spoke to Bridget about how it feels to be part of a band that’s now celebrating its 10th anniversary. “It makes me feel old [laughs] that’s for sure,” she said. “It doesn’t feel like it was that long ago, but then I guess it’s a great opportunity to reflect on what happened,” added Bridget.
Speaking about what fans can expect from the current tour, Bridget told us, “We will definitely delve into the back catalogue…I think we’ll make a special effort to dig up some of those old songs from the first album and we might even have a rehearsal, which is unlike us. We’ll see how we go!”
Bridget was optimistic about the future of The Gin Club, hoping the anniversary will allow for more activity in the future, saying, “We haven’t played as much as we would’ve liked…we would love to do more of it and I think we’ve got a new album that we’re planning to put out next year.”
