Kate Miller-Heidke Partners With Cooking Vinyl For Fourth Album

The Melbourne-based Australian arm of UK indie label Cooking Vinyl have announced a new partnership with one of Australia’s most treasured pop songwriters, Kate Miller-Heidke. Together they will release the Brisbane artist’s fourth studio album, O Vertigo!, on Friday, 14th March 2014.

O Vertigo! is the follow-up to 2012’s Nightflight and Miller-Heidke’s first independent release, having left major label Sony Records earlier this year. Funding for the record came via a highly successful, record-breaking crowdfunding campaign launched through Pledge Music.

The label services deal means Miller-Heidke will enjoy 100 percent creative control over the album, with Cooking Vinyl Australia taking care of logistics such as “marketing, PR, project management and distribution throughout Australia and New Zealand” and release in UK, Europe, and Asia.

Since 1986, Cooking Vinyl has been one of Europe’s most important artist-focused independent record labels, boasting an unmatched client loyalty. The label stands as a vanguard in the modern record industry, offering services-only deals that don’t claim a stake in an artist’s copyrights.

O Vertigo! was recorded in Melbourne from October to November this year. The album features production from John Castle (The Drones, The Bamboos) and was mixed by Cenzo Townshend (Kaiser Chiefs, U2). It’s set to feature guest appearances from Megan Washington and more.
