Christopher Lee Hits Charts With Heavy Metal ‘Jingle Bells’

You probably know him better from his roles in The Hobbit, Lord Of The Rings and Star Wars but legendary actor Christopher Lee also likes to get his metal on, having released two albums, and now he’s put his own heavy spin on Christmas, dropping a reworked version of Jingle Bells.

Entitled Jingle Hell, the metal take on the classic carol has made a surprise entry on the US charts, hitting number 22 on the Billboard Hot Singles Sales chart. The song features vocals from classically trained soprano Li Li, although Lee has released a video message (below) explaining that there’s another version of the track:

“I sing another version, it’s a bit more naughty. It’s not bad, I mean bad in the sense of unpleasant. It’s entertaining, it’s certainly different.”

Jingle Hell comes complete with a B-side cover of Frank Sinatra‘s My Way, which was recorded back in 2006 and mixed specifically for the single. The success of the track sees Lee earn the title of oldest living performer to enter the music charts, although he’s already the oldest heavy metal performer in the world, having released his second album, Charlemagne: The Omens Of Death, on his 91st birthday back in May.
