David Bowie Does Elvis For Christmas Message

The undisputed king of glam rock has channelled the king of rock and roll proper in a Christmas message for BBC Radio 6, with David Bowie calling into the station on 26th December during their special holiday programming to deliver season’s greetings while giving his best Elvis impression.

The 41-seconds-long clip was broadcast on 26th December during This Is Radio Clash, part of the BBC’s holiday programming schedule, which also features segments by Iggy Pop. This Is Radio Clash was hosted by the three surviving members of legendary UK punk rock group, The Clash.

Assuming The King’s famous Mississippi twang, Bowie said:

“Hello everybody, this is David Bowie making a telephone call from the US of A. At this time of the year I can’t help but remember my British-ness and all the jolly British folk, so here’s to you and have yourselves a Merry little Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you very much.”

Bowie has plenty to be thankful for, with 2013 seeing the release of his critically-acclaimed comeback album, The Next Day, which not only garnered praise from the likes of former collaborator Trent Reznor, but had Bowie unveiling a massive media effort in support of the album.
