Organisers Stressed Ahead Of NYE Water Festival

A look at the social media accounts of the organisers of the failed NYE Water Festival, which was unceremoniously cancelled six hours ahead of its scheduled launch at Wet’n’Wild water park in Sydney this week, indicates tensions were running high in the days leading up to the festival.

“Stressing Hard!!!” wrote Eric Woo, one of the four organisers of the event, which also included Sydney EDM promoters Nikola Alavanja and Diego Tobar, who run the Trashbags nightclub in Oxford St, and Ritchie Perera of Urban Agent, in a Facebook post on Saturday, 28th December.

As The Age reports, Woo’s post was then followed up with an ambiguous and noticeably frustrated missive that read, “I understand when poor ppl ‘try’ to rip you cos theyr’re doing it for survival but when rich as mofo’s are trying to rip you just because they’re greedy fat fcks thats FCKD up!!!”

It’s unclear who Woo’s anger was being directed towards. Recent reports indicate tension between the promoters and Wet’n’Wild owners Village Roadshow Theme Parks, with One Cube Entertainment alleging the owners requested $250,000 from the promoters ahead of the event.

On Sunday, 29th December, Trabor took to social media to vent over the “3 months of solid work” he’d put in, saying “my heads done in” and bemoaning “such long meetings.” Woo concurred with his partner, posting, “OMG and last night me and [Ritchie Perera] was there til 2.45/3am fml.”

Posting via mobile on Sunday, 29th December, and accompanied by Trabor and Alavanja at Wet’n’Wild, Woo wrote, “OMG back for another meeting!!!” adding “2 days to go til NYE!!!” Despite the mounting tensions, organisers continued to promote and sell tickets right up to 31st December.
