The Hives, Beady Eye, Deftones Big Day Out Sideshows Confirmed

Big Day Out 2014 promoter AJ Maddah took to his preferred form of communication, Twitter, confirming to punters that last-minute Big Day Out 2014 replacements The Hives, Beady Eye and Deftones will be performing their own headlining tour dates while in Australia.

Maddah confirmed that Swedish rockers The Hives will be performing an exclusive club show, mentioning Melbourne’s Billboard The Venue (which has recently been renamed 170 Russell) as a possible location. Sydney audiences will get shows from Liam Gallagher’s Beady Eye and US alt-metalers Deftones, according to Maddah.

These three acts were finally announced last month by Maddah as the acts replacing Blur on the BDO 2014 festival bill, after the Britpoppers pulled out of the festival and sent the twitterverse into a frenzy of wild rumours and speculation.

Music Feeds caught up with The Hives drummer Chris Dangerous recently about their impending visit and working on new material. “We’re super stoked [for Big Day Out], I mean Australia has always been one of those places where we just love to go and tour… Everything is just perfect for us,” said Dangerous.

A raft of Big Day Out sideshows, including dates for headliners Arcade Fire and Snoop Dogg, were announced in November last year. Details of those shows, and all the latest Big Day Out sideshows news, can be found on our Big Day Out 2014 Sideshows Feed here.
