Placebo Sidewaves Announced

Possessing one of the most recognisable voices in alt-rock and having penned some of the most cherished albums and beloved songs in recent memory, London rockers Placebo have announced they will return to Australia with sideshows planned to coincide with their Soundwave 2014 spots.

The band first amassed a legion of fans with their indie anthem and rock radio staple Every You Every Me, from their classic 1998 album, Without You I’m Nothing. The band went on to score more hits in the form of Special K, The Bitter End, Infra-Red, and their cover of Running Up That Hill.

The band’s latest release is 2013’s Loud Like Love, which Music FeedsTom Williams described as the sound of a band “ageing quite gracefully.” To promote the LP, the band created Loud Like Love TV, the first time a band has ever produced, curated, and streamed a global live TV show.

“I cannot wait [for Soundwave 2014]. On the last world tour we did, Australia was by far my favorite place that I went. Not to say the rest of the world wasn’t amazing, it was, but Aussies, man, you guys have so much fun,” the band’s drummer, Steve Forrest, told Music Feeds last year.

The band’s headline tour dates will kick off Monday, 24th February at a licensed all-ages show taking place at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, before a show at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Thursday, 27th February. Tickets go on sale 9:00am AEDT Thursday, 23rd January.
