Lorde’s Little Sister, India, Is Also A Singer

Proving talent runs in the Yelich-O’Connor gene pool, Lorde‘s (real name Ella Yelich-O’Connor) younger sister India Yelich-O’Connor has released a cover of A Great Big World’s Say Something on Soundcloud.

The 15-year-old’s lo-fi recording demonstrates she shares the same dramatic inflections as big sis and although the pitch does not always hit the mark, India’s mature approach belies the young singer’s age. Despite the fuzzy recording, the track has received great support from followers.

While it’s early in the game for 15-year-old India, big sister and Grammy nominee Lorde also got her start by singing covers. Most notably a intermediate school talent show performance of Duffy’s Warwick Avenue that was filmed and subsequently sent to Universal Music, leading to a development deal.

While there’s no word yet of a similar deal for the younger India, there’s no doubt the two siblings belong to one very talented family, their mother Sonja Yelich is also an award-winning poet.

Lorde is set to take the stage next week, 26th January to perform at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. The singer herself is up for four awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for her inescapable, chart-topping single, Royals.
