LISTEN: Beck – ‘Blue Moon’

Alternative music icon Beck has revealed the first single from his upcoming twelfth studio album, Morning Phase. The track is titled Blue Moon and is the first real taste fans have received of the new album, which is reportedly a companion piece to Beck’s much-acclaimed 2002 album, Sea Change.

“I’m just fumbling around with chords and a mood. The songs are coming out of a California tradition. I’m hearing The Byrds, Crosby Stills and Nash, Gram Parsons, Neil Young – the bigger idea of what that sound is to me,” Beck previously told Rolling Stone about the new album.

Morning Phase also welcomes back many of the same collaborators from Sea Change, who are currently accompanying Beck live, including Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Joey Waronker, Smokey Hormel, and Jason Falkner, and recalls the melancholic themes of Beck’s acclaimed 2002 LP.
