In 2013, Adelaide metal heroes I Killed The Prom Queen entered a recording studio in Gothenburg, Sweden with Bring Me The Horizon and At The Gates producer Fredrik Nordström to begin work on their first album in six years. The result was Beloved, which the band have now shared with fans.
Since forming in Adelaide in 2000, I Killed The Prom Queen have gone on to become one of the country’s most treasured metal exports, achieving chart success, critical acclaim with albums like 2006’s Music For The Recently Deceased, and amassing legions of devoted fans around the world.
Following a successful farewell tour in 2008, members disbanded to work on new projects, among them, BMTH and Confession. “I think at the point in time when we did the Say Goodbye tour…we honestly thought that was it,” guitarist and songwriter Jona Weinhofen recently told Music Feeds.
But after several online chats between Weinhofen and guitarist Kevin Cameron, the band recruited new vocalist Jamie Hope and made their triumphant return. Fans can now hear the result of that long hibernation period below, which Weinhofen assured us, is classic Prom Queen.
The band will be touring as part of the Soundwave Festival 2014 lineup. Check out all dates and details below. Beloved is slated for release Friday, 14th February through Epitaph Records.
