Arctic Monkeys Cover The Beatles In NYC

Arctic Monkeys, who cleaned up in the latest Triple J Hottest 100 and recently scored another Brit Award nomination, joined in on the celebrations marking The Beatles‘ 1964 US invasion by performing their hit, All My Loving, at their recent New York show at Madison Square Garden.

“So apparently, almost to the day, I believe, it’s fifty years since Ed Sullivan first brought The Beatles to the United States,” the Arctics’ fittingly pompadoured frontman Alex Turner told the crowd, after returning for an encore during the band’s first ever headlining show at the famous venue.

“We thought, seeing as we’re in New York, as they were all those years ago, that we’d play a little Beatles song for you tonight. Apparently one in three Americans actually watched that performance, so if we’re lucky one or three Americans might watch this YouTube video,” added Turner.

All My Loving was one of three songs played during the Beatles’ iconic appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show on 9th February 1964. It wasn’t the first time the Arctics had paid tribute to the Fab Four, having covered Come Together during the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.
