Soundwave Festival 2014 time is nigh and fans in Sydney and Brisbane can finally unsheath the highlighters and curse those dastardly band clashes, which promoter AJ Maddah and SW14 organisers tried valiantly to avoid, as the set times, as promised, have finally arrived in fans’ hands.
Organising universally crowd-pleasing set times couldn’t have been easy for Maddah and his crew, who last month made their jobs that much harder by adding new headliner Richie Sambora to the lineup, as well as industrial veterans Filter, Australia’s own I Killed the Prom Queen, and more.
The ongoing rift between Soundwave, thrash metal legends Megadeth, and Newsted has sealed extended set times for bands including Down, DevilDriver, and Trivium, with Maddah explaining that the last-minute cancellation of Dave Mustaine and co meant no replacements could be booked.
Earlier this week, Maddah began unveiling draft set times, confirming to Music Feeds that drafts for the main stage, which features headliners Green Day, as well as Jimmy Eat World, Alice In Chains, and Placebo, were “pretty much nailed on” and unlikely to see any changes.
