Local Record Roundup is bringing you four Antipodeans who are each as hardworking as the next, able to craft a tune as well as the next, and each releasing highly-anticipated new albums: Melburnians Dan Brodie and Twin Beasts, NZ’s Tiny Ruins, and Sydney’s Monks Of Mellonwah.

On 16th March two time ARIA award winner Dan Brodie will launch his latest full-length effort, Deep Deep Love, at a special matinee show at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club. The album’s release was delayed by one year due to Brodie’s Hodgkins Lymphoma diagnosis.

Having taken a long break from songwriting and playing shows to undergo heavy chemo and radiation treatments, Brodie is ready to finally take the step that fans have been waiting for and complete his unfinished business. Check out Brodie’s new single, Tear Us Down, below.

Tiny Ruins – Brightly Painted One

From tiny beginnings — a solo project launched in 2009 by songwriter Hollie FullbrookTiny Ruins have developed a reputation as a capable and talented group and have now announced that their second album, Brightly Painted One, will drop on Friday, 2nd May.

Now well-established as a full band, the New Zealanders have consistently garnered praise for their tours throughout Australia, Europe, and the US, and for spots supporting the likes of Beach House, Joanna Newsom, Fleet Foxes, Father John Misty, and The Handsome Family.

Forming as The Toot Toot Toots, Melbourne quintet Twin Beasts have developed a knack for creating punk-informed country proclamations that bear pop hooks and the band’s trademark twisted groove. Their new album, Badlove, is slated for release on Thursday, 24th April.

Readers can check out the group’s avant-garde (to say the least) antics in their new video for Sweet Marie, below. The clip captures that Twin Beasts irreverence that has seen them wow crowds at Meredith Music Festival, Rock It Festival, White Night Melbourne, and more.

Monks Of Mellonwah – Turn The People

Sydneysiders Monks Of Mellonwah have announced that they will drop their highly anticipated debut album, Turn The People, on Friday, 7th March. The album, produced and mixed in the US, is an illustration of the band’s ability to craft lush, experimental soundscapes.

Produced in half by Grammy Award winning producer Keith Olsen and half by lead guitarist Joe de la Hoyde, the album is the group’s attempt at not only displaying their prowess with pop-infused songcraft, but at creating a musical journey for their fans that feels timeless.
