2 Chainz Cancels Future Music Festival

Georgia-based rapper Tauheed Epps, better known in the hip-hop world as the gaudy 2 Chainz, appears to have been dropped from the lineup of Future Music Festival 2014. Fans were tipped off after the Birthday Song hit-maker did not appear on any of the event’s recently unveiled timetables.

2 Chainz was announced as part of the initial lineup round for Future 2014, a member of this year’s considerable hip-hop contingent, which includes Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. His name was still listed on the lineup in the most recent official press material released just four days ago.

However, a look at 2 Chainz’s upcoming dates as listed on his official website show US performances scheduled throughout the tenure of the 2014 Future Music tour. The rapper has a show scheduled for 1st March in Indianapolis, the date Future is scheduled to launch in Brisbane.

Last year the rapper was forced to withdraw from the Movement Festival, which was later cancelled. 2 Chainz’s dropping-out reportedly stemmed from issues with visa eligibility requirements and processing timelines for Australia and New Zealand, and a pending court case back home.

Since then, the rapper has had another run-in with the law, with a reported eight-hour stand-off ensuing after his tour bus was pulled over for a broken taillight and both he and his entourage refused to let police search the vehicle, later being charged with obstructing an officer.

No official word has yet been released on why 2 Chainz appears to no longer be a part of the 2014 Future lineup. No one at Future Music could be reached for comment at the time of publication. This is a developing story and Music Feeds will keep you updated as details emerge.

UPDATE 12:19pm 25/02/14: Future Music Festival organisers have officially announced, via Facebook, the cancellation of 2 Chainz’s appearances as part of the event’s 2014 bill, citing visa issues as the cause of the cancellation:

After long discussions and a lot of work on both sides on visa requirements, we’ve been regrettably advised that 2 Chainz is unable to travel to Australia at this time. Both parties are disappointed – FMF HQ loves 2 Chainz, and can’t wait to get him down to Australia as soon as we can.
