Thought that Gangam Style video was the most-watched clip on YouTube ever?
Well, unfortunately for PSY, despite rapidly closing in on a whopping half a billion views in the space of a couple of months, he’s far from setting a YouTube record.
It turns out that fans of the South Korean pop star who’s created Asian Macarena Circa 2012 have a fair bit of repeat viewing to do if PSY is going to threaten Justin Bieber’s title of the most-watched YouTube video ever.
ReadWriteWeb did an updated version of the top 10 most-watched YouTube videos of all time at the start of this month – and Gangnam Style made No.9 on the list, with 406 million views. It’s since added another 60 million views at the time of writing and made its way up to No.8 – passing Brazilian pop star Michel Telo and his song Ai Se Eu Te Pego, which has had just over 441 million hits.
However, both clips are way behind Justin Bieber and his breakout hit Baby. It’s sad but true: teeny boppers and pop fans all over the globe have watched the video of Bieber and his buddies goofing around in a bowling alley over 788 million times.
He’s got a pretty comfy lead over his closest rivals: Jennifer Lopez’s On the Floor is at 606 million, with Eminem and Rhianna’s Love the Way You Lie at 502 million.
