Big Easy Express — SXSW Trailer Released

One of the most anticipated folk documentaries is set to be aired at the 2012 SXSW Music Festival. Emmett Malloy’s Big Easy Express follows a historic train ride across the United States of America with passengers, Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show in which collaborations are the norm, and live shows are standard.

Emmett Malloy has also filmed documentaries such as The White Stripes’ Under Great White Northern Lights. Big Easy Express will not be the only film being aired at the festival; 130 features will screen, of which 65 are world premieres.

“SXSW has long been a haven for bold filmmaking and a launching pad for authentic voices,” Film Conference and Festival producer Janet Pierson said. “Every year we start anew, trying hard not to rely on our own formulas or expectations. This year we’re excited to present a fresh slate of breakout talent, but one that’s still uniquely SXSW.”
