Dumb And Dumber Sequel Confirmed With Jim Carrey And Jeff Daniels

Written by John Ritchie on April 4, 2012

The long-awaited Dumb & Dumber sequel has been confirmed, with both Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels signing on to begin filming in September this year. According to the film producers, Jeff Daniels was always keen to film a sequel, but it took 18 years for Jim Carey to get on board.

Speaking with comingsoon.net, one half of the writer/director team, Peter Farrelly, said:

We’re getting set to shoot Dumb and Dumber 2 in September. We’ve got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back … Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, ‘We’ve got to do this thing again.’ He had just watched ‘Dumb and Dumber’ and he said, ‘This is the perfect sequel. Let’s do it.

Farrelly also made it clear he had nothing to do with the 2003 failed prequel, Dumb and Dumberer, saying:

We did not do Dumb and Dumberer, that was a studio thing. So we’ve always wanted to do a sequel, and finally Jim called up.

The news comes just a few days after Ron Burgundy announced the sequel to Anchorman. Watch the announcement here.
