Yep, John Oliver Just Bought The ‘Cinderella Man’ Jockstrap From Russell Crowe’s Sydney Auction

Comedian John Oliver is now the proud owner of the leather jockstrap worn by Russell Crowe during the filming of his 2005 boxing drama, Cinderella Man.

The funnyman snapped up the bonafide pair of Rusty’s crusties during the actor, musician & Rabbitohs co-owner’s recent divorce auction in Sydney.

ICYMI: Crowe threw a big-ticket auction last weekend to celebrate his recent divorce from wife Danielle Spencer, putting a whole bunch of his belongings, including movie memorabilia and musical instruments, under the hammer.

And the Last Week Tonight host was well represented at the proceedings, snapping up the jockstrap for a cheeky $7K, along with a bunch of other items from Crowe’s pool room including a pair of shorts and robe from the same movie, plus the hood he wore in Robin Hood, the vest he wore in Les Misérables and more.

Oliver announced his second-hand haul in the latest episode of his talk show, and in true Last Week Tonight style, he wasn’t quite done there.

The host also announced big plans to donate the goods to one of the last remaining Blockbuster video stores in the US, specifically in Alaska, to help boost their business.

And who says nothing good ever came from a divorce?
