The New Pollution: # 018 – HEARTSREVOLUTION

HEARTSREVOLUTION are an attractive duo (usual trio) from New York who make music which is situated somewhere between dance and noise-punk. Some of their sounds are quite jarring, but given the right atmosphere, HEARTSREVOLUTION’s songs will surely disintegrate the dance floor you’re trying to look cool on.

True NME darlings, Ben Pollock and Leyla “Lo” Safai divide time between making EPs, producing DJ mixes and travelling to gigs in ice cream trucks (which I’ve just noticed appears in the awesome album artwork for their EP, Hearts Japan, featuring drummer Terry Campbell).

Word on the street (i.e. unverified) is HEARTSREVOLUTION are working on their first long-player. Hopefully we can expect a release in the first half of 2012. In the meantime, their latest EP, Are We Having Fun Yet? (which I can only hope is a Party Down reference) will have to hold you over. It’s 30 minutes of in-your-face mash-ups and big beat drum loops featuring occasional vocals from Lo. You can download it for free at their SoundCloud which also has a tracklisting.

Try HEARTSREVOLUTION if you’re into HEALTH (and no, my caps lock key isn’t BROKEN), Gang Gang Dance, Cansei De Ser Sexy and Spank Rock.

Break…
