The New Pollution: # 030 – Beach Fossils

Beach Fossils are another one of those surf-rock bands. They’re worth writing about though, because they’re not singing about the same, sun-soaked Californian beaches that everyone else is. Beach Fossils songs make you think of cold beaches, that have black sand…but are memorable nonetheless. Plus they’re from Brooklyn, so…bonus points.

The band brought out their debut EP, What A Pleasure, about 12 months ago. The guitars are jangly and the vocals are monotonous, but I’ll be damned if I haven’t listened to their songs 100 times. While none of the songs on this album will blow you away, they’re good background music for your next trendy barbeque. Beach Fossils are working on their sophomore LP, which is due for release this year.

For fans of Real Estate, Deerhunter and the retro camera app. Pale skin and big fringes compulsory.
