Bands You Won’t See On The Second Big Day Out 2014 Lineup Announcement

Written by Greg Moskovitch on November 18, 2013

UPDATE: Big Day Out 2014 Second lineup announcement has dropped – details here!

Another year of Australian festivals inevitably brings with it its natural counterpart, a year’s worth of festival lineup rumours. Having already dispelled a few of the myths surrounding Soundwave, Music Feeds has decided to bust a few rumours buzzing about Big Day Out 2014.

Back in July, BDO boss Ken West told FasterLouder that the second announcement would take the 2014 roster from 32 acts, up to 45, but insisted there wouldn’t be any “massive” acts for the second announce, with AJ Maddah referring to it as a “supplementary announcement.”

Organisers of the upcoming Big Day Out event have been especially tight-lipped this year, with scarcely a name dropped, though many debunked. Earlier in the year, West stated that neither Kanye West, Jay-Z nor Neil Young would be appearing on the 2014 bill.

Former BDO headliners Muse announced a December tour earlier in the year, ruling them out for any BDO appearances. Rumoured headliner Depeche Mode will be busy spreading the personal gospel in Europe, while Arctic Monkeys will be busying themselves over in the States.

SECOND BIG DAY OUT 2014 LINEUP HERE!

Between Falls Festival and Western Australia’s Southbound, the likes of Vampire Weekend, The Roots, MGMT and Grizzly Bear have all been snapped up, and The Flaming lips will be playing My Morning Jacket’s One Big Holiday festival in Mexico, with The Bronx.

So far this is all in keeping with West’s ‘no massive acts’ statement. Glaswegians Mogwai have gigs locked in for that time, with the same going for Irish four-piece The Strypes. Harvest acts Mutemath and Desaparecidos have jumped ship to SW14.

Punters also shouldn’t expect Justin Vernon‘s non-Bon Iver project, Volcano Choir, who were slated for the cancelled Harvest Festival, nor fellow Harvesters Walk Off The Earth, with both announcing clashing US shows.

To find out who did make the second Big Day Out 2014 lineup, check back right here tomorrow morning where Music Feeds will have the full details.
