Strum A Note Up In The Wires: Jake Bugg: Nottingham…Italy

Written by Jules Innocenzi on July 16, 2012

I have started my travels in Italy: land of pizza, pasta, vino and some of the most breathtaking places on earth. Here, ‘Danza Kuduro’ and non-decript dance music seems to be king among the 20+ age group, who blast it from their pimped-up cars whilst driving down the streets of Northern Italy. I know…

However, just a few days into my Italy trip I was introduced to Englishman Jake Bugg’s awesome folk style tunes, and it’s that fabulous I must share him with you!

Nottingham born Bugg has an amazing and unique sound, that can only be described as Bob Dylan meets Johnny Cash, a very mature sound for his eighteen years. His debut album is due out this October, but he has previously released a few singles, a couple of which have made it into the UK charts.

One of my faves is Somebody Told Me; try listening to this without welling up even slightly, it showcases his vocal talents fantastically.

Jake is currently gigging it around the UK this summer (your winter, ouch) check out his website for dates up until November if you happen to be in Europe – http://jakebugg.com
