Kill Appeal

Having played together for the last three years, Kill Appeal are a talented group of youngsters intent on bringing back to rocking riffs and awesome sleaze of the rock scene on the Sunset Strip during the 80s.

“We got together back in 2004. Odin put an ad in the paper wanting some kids to join his AC/DC cover band, I (Marcus) fronted to play drums and then we became good friends. When we went to High School we met Blake and Lindsay who joined our band that was no longer a cover band and had a lot more influences. Kill Appeal have been playing together for about 3 years.

Currently made up of singer and guitarist Odin Donohoe (great Odin’s Raven that’s good name), Marcus Fraser on drums, guitarist Lindsay Allen and bassist Blake Cateris, in an effort to refine their sound Kill Appeal are currently recruiting a new singer Jameel Snares.

“Our singing is lacking a bit so we’re getting Jameel Snares (brother of Mo from Hell City Glamours) to be our new lead vocalist so Odin and Lindsay can both focus on guitar,” Marcus tells me.

“We are all quite talented instrumentally,” Marcus says in a mock tone of self-importance. “But really there’s still a long way to go and we will get better and better over time. We all still get lessons, we are constantly getting more influences and each time we write a song our song writing gets better!”

Still to young to drink, the lads were all quick to sing the praises of A Red Letter Day band comps. “They’re the majority of our performances,” he exclaims. “We’re addicted to that rush, every time we touch it, we can never get enough, cause we’re addicted to that rush, Yeow!”

“These comps are great for upcoming bands, they’re all-ages so we can enter, and you get to play in front of live audience, plus there are cool prizes! It’s a fun experience, and it can really help you establish an audience especially if you’re our age and you can’t really play anywhere else.”

When it comes to self-assessment, the boys, in accordance with their sleaze-rock ethos are far from modest. “They fucking love us! Of course they do, we play a lot tighter than most bands our age and Odin’s so cute in his leather pants, haha!”

“We play Hard Rock, but we also have some progressive sections in our music which are influenced by bands like Rush and Atomic Rooster. Our biggest influences are Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Faster Pussycat, Derringer, Van Halen, David Bowie, UFO, Kiss, and Motley Crue!”

With ambition and drive, the boys still remain level headed about the future. “We would like to keep on writing songs and increase our ability as musicians (not that we don’t kick ass already!). We’d love to be huge and go on tour and all that but that won’t be for a while ay.”

Kill Appeal will be playing at The Bald Faced Stag on Oct 8. Visit http://www.myspace.com/killappealrocks for more info.
