Music Feeds Podcast Episode #118: You+Me

This year City and Colour’s Dallas Green and singer Alecia Moore, known to most a pop star Pink, formed what seemed to be an unlikely musical folk duo. Under the name You+Me the two released a surprise debut album rose ave and according to one half of the duo, Dallas Green, the project was all about the timing.

“The timing wasn’t right before and I guess it made perfect sense now,” he explains. “If we had tried to do this at another time it probably wouldn’t have turned out the way it did.” Having known each other for years, this album was born out of what was supposed to be a few studio hours together and ended up turning into crafting eight songs in just one week.

“I don’t think either of us could have told you that this is what would have come out of it,” says Green. “On a good day we probably both thought we would get one or two songs, because we both can sing, we both write songs. But I could never imagine it would end up being something I just feel so strongly about.”

Green says the two were on the same wavelength from the moment he opened his guitar case and he couldn’t be happier about what they produced. “The good thing is she’s already conquered the world a couple of times and I have no desire to whatsoever. We were literally just going into it for the fun of it, for the love of singing and making music,” he explains.

“We’re just both very comfortable in our skin and as soon as we started singing together we both sort of looked at each other and it was like, ‘OK, this is going to be something.'”
