Irreverent New York pop-punkers Patent Pending were recently named by yours truly as a part of Music Feeds and Soundwave Festival’s First Wave of artists to officially join the Soundwave 2015 lineup and according to frontman (and soon-to-be-father) Joe Ragosta, the band are bursting at the seems to get down here.
“It’s a bizarre time and it’s an unbelievable time, we’re just so, so excited,” explains the musician in the latest Music Feeds Podcast. “This is the type of festival that, as an American, you don’t even believe that it can possible to be real because we don’t have anything like this in our country.”
“The lineup for this thing is like an entire iPod every year and that doesn’t happen for us, ever, so to be invited to it first and foremost is incredible,” he continues. “But then to be announced second, to get that extra attention to help us build a following down there is so, so, so insane and surreal.”
As well as letting us in on a few fond memories he has of sharing meals and hair tips with Hanson, Joe gave listeners a little insight into what fans can expect at their upcoming Soundwave shows. “You should expect absolute manic chaos and mayhem and insanity,” he said.
“We’re out of our minds, guitars are thrown, bodies are flipping, there’s crowd surfing and crowd swimming. The coolest part about being in a punk band that plays weird styles of music is that punk bands never have to say they’re sorry.”
