PREMIERE: Stream The Basics’ New Live Album ‘In The Rude’ Here, Ahead Of Its Release

It’s been some time since we’ve heard a peep from The Basics but thankfully we needn’t wait any longer. The Melbourne trio is back at it with brand new live album In The Rude which you can stream in full here today ahead of its May 27th release.

Recorded at Melbourne’s Howler and featuring 12 high energy live tracks, In The Rude is The Basics’ third live album and follows 2015’s politically charged record Age of Entitlement. It may have been a while between drinks for the guys but from track one of the new record, it’s clear The Basics haven’t lost their chemistry.

“The songs are like band mates you haven’t seen for ages, old friends you connect with again over a beer,” The Basics’ Wally De Backer – aka Gotye – says. “It’s refreshing to play live again.”

“We were never quite cool enough to be poached for another band, so if we wanted to keep playing music we had to stick together,” adds Bassist, Kris Schroeder. “Musically, I think we’ve stretched our legs a bit, taken a few risking but The Basics is a ‘safe space’ to make mistakes!

“I really love those boys, we’re at that awkward time in life when we’re over-committed on every front, and sometimes it’s weeks between chats. Getting back together for In The Rude was really special.”

In The Rude will be released on Friday, May 27th but you can stream the record in full, here below!
