2009 J-Award Winners Announced

The 2009 J-Award winners were announced on triple j on Friday, but we’re still catching up from the weekend… so give us a break huh? Read on for the winners.

Sarah Blasko is the winner of the J Award for Best Australian album of 2009 for her stunning third record As Day Follows Night. Blasko recorded the album in Sweden with producer Bjorn Ytling of Peter, Bjorn and John. I t featured triple j favourites We Won’t Run, Down On Love and All I Want.

The Unearthed J Award went to Townsville-based collective The Middle East. They released their debut EP The Recordings of The Middle East back in May and captured the attention of music lovers around Australia and around the world, with songs like The Darkest Side and Blood. They’re now busy working on their debut album.

The J Award for Music Video of the Year was given to director Alex Roberts for his work on Parlez-Vous Francais? by Art Vs Science. The clip features a duel between two mime artists and has been featured on blogs and music sites around the world. You can watch it below:
