30 Seconds To Mars Put Fans First In Controversial ‘Do Or Die’ Video

Though 30 Seconds To Mars initially copped a fair amount of heat over the concept for their latest music video, the final product of Do Or Die was surely worth it. The clip sees the band, and the actual song itself, take a back seat to testimonials from the band’s fans, know as The Echelon.

Fans speak candidly about their experiences with the band and their music during the clip, with many attributing their passion for all things Mars to prior life experiences. The talking heads style testimonials are interjected by footage from the band performing in front of tens of thousands of people in some breathtaking locations as well as plenty of footage of the band on their down time.

On paper, asking fans to put their hands up should they have 30 Seconds To Mars-inspired tattoos does seem fairly reckless, though it makes more sense now that it’s been put on film. The clip features a short montage of fan tattoos so here’s hoping no-one went and got one just for the shoot.

The footage was compiled during the bands Summer 2013 tour, which explains the noticeable absence of a good Aussie accent. The band will now be playing in Australia early 2014 after postponing a tour scheduled for later this year.

Do Or Die is the latest single to be lifted from the group’s most recent album Love, Lust, Faith + Dreams.
